Resolution to Combat Sexism and Misogyny in the Media
Whereas, the media has consistently demeaned women from the primary campaign throughout the general election; and
Whereas, this is abusive to and biased against women and is unrelated to news or policy;
Therefore, let it be resolved that NOW-NYS recommend to National NOW that they,
1. will expand and maintain the media hall of shame with the contact information of the offenders,
2. will select the worst offenders and organize a campaign to have them fired. This will include pickets of the sponsors. They will send out actions alerts,
3. will hold a meeting/forum on sexism for C-span,
4. will conduct a consciousness raising (CR) campaign against sexism in the media that could include producing a You-Tube video that uses sarcasm/humor to raise awareness of sexism, encouraging Saturday Night Live to take on this topic, and writing Katie Couric and asking her to criticize some of the male big wigs the way Hillary was criticized.
